Monday ( Ogadentoday Press)- the International conference organized by ONLF supporters of the Worldwide was held in Toronto Canada for three days. The conference highlights the ongoing situation in Ogaden, human right abuses, and in general the current political and social situation in the Ogaden region.
About 2000 delegates from the European countries, America, Australia, and, Middle East gathered in Toronto Canada, Somali Intellectuals, Professors of Universities, Canadian MP, researchers, Somali Artist and Swedish Journalist participated the conference.
The Head of conference committee organizers, Assistant of University Professor Mohamed Osman Hassan opened the conference on Friday.
The main Agenda of the meeting was to focus on the Human Right Abuses in Somali region of Ogaden, and the silence of the World, the conference was debated on the Aid given to Ethiopia, the complicity of the genocide taking place in Ogaden and the natural resource in Ogaden region.
Other agenda spoken on conference were among The ONLF leadership, Youth movements OYSU, (Ogaden Youth and Student Union), Democracy and Justice.
The leader of ONLF, Mohamed Omar Osman sent on his behalf to the Conference, Mohamed Abdi Yasin Dhiirane, the Head of ONLF public Relation, Mr Dhiirane had hinted on the several issue in Ogaden Region.
The ONLF accuses the Ethiopian military of routinely killing Somali Ogaden civilians and burning villages in an effort to displace them from their land.
Mr Farid Omar said in his Article posted in Digital Journal. the day to day atrocities in Ogaden the Zenawi government is trying to hide from world attention include:
Mass murder, rape, plunder and the razing of villages and towns
Forced disappearances and deportations
Arbitrary arrests and detention
Summary executions
Extra Judicial killings
Widespread torture and ill treatment
Admiral Mohamed Omar Osman, chairman of ONLF, said in teleconference there is a proposed peace talks between ONLF and the Tigray dominated government of Addis Ababa, which Kenya offered to mediate.
He said he was optimistic about the proposed agreement between his movement and the Ethiopian regime during his teleconference address on Friday. The scope of the proposed dialogue is not clear as the Admiral did not specify any details.
Ogaden People wishes to vote for referendum as South Sudan, but it is unknown If Ethiopia Regime accepts, constitutionally the articles of self-determination is drafted on the Ethiopian Federal constitution.
Somali Administration in Puntland was blamed for handing over Ogaden civilians to Ethiopia; The Faroole Administration was denounced strongly by the leaders and the participants, since the Last victim dead in Ogaden Prison in Jigjiga.
Political Analyst believes that Ethiopia did not like the Conference, and ONLF played a crucial political conference that attracted the Eyes and was internationally accepted.
ONLF is a nationalist movement fighting for the Independence of Ogaden Region in Ethiopia, for last 20 Years.
According to the Foreign Policy, ONLF is considered as voice of Ogaden People in the Ethiopia.
At the end of the Conference, the Sheraton Hotel in Toronto was held a Drama, a talented young Artist from Canada, Europe and America, Fartun Ahmed (Fartun Birimo) , Mahamud Jaango, Abdi Khaliq Mahamed Sirad, Halimo Gobaad, and OYSU youth from America, Rooble, Patrool, Dhoobto, and others presented a drama that is about the Ogaden social and political situation.
