Officials of Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF) have arrived on Addis Ababa from Eritrea where they had been since they have started struggle in Ogaden in 1994.
Their return came a day after they had declared a unilateral ceasefire and welcome political change in Ethiopia.
The new EPRDF, Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Democratic Front government has welcomed the delegation. The deputy communication Minister Kassahun Goffe has welcomed at Bole International Airport.
ONLF’s spokesperson, Adani Hirmoge told Ethiopian TV and other Journalist that the main goal is their responsibility to stabilize the Somali Region political crisis. He added that there is hope of negotiations with Government.
“The Front returned home due to Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s call” Adani Abdulkadir, spokesperson of the rebel movement, told journalists. He added that they also want to stabilize hostility situation in Somali Region.
ONLF has been fighting to secede the Ethiopian Somali’s Ogaden region from the rest of Ethiopia since 1994 and it has not made it clear if the organization has dropped its secessionist political Program or not
